Nearly 70 people took part in the annual Anchorians Road Runners Society (ARRS) Wobble Fun Run on New Year’s eve morning, with adults, children and even dogs enjoying a 5km or 10km route from the clubhouse in Gillingham.
The sociable fitness event has been held for six years and has grown in popularity with support from other Medway sports groups as Anchs Chairman Gary Jackson explains: “It’s a very relaxed event and not a race so our members see it as a great opportunity to combat some of the Christmas excess but we also get lots of non-playing family and friends who enjoy running, jogging or walking round with their dogs.
“We’d also like to thank Emma Harris, who is a member of Medway Fit, and Mel Young who runs Amazon 24 Fitness, for encouraging their colleagues to come along and take part – it’s fast becoming an event for the local community and not just our hockey family.”
The event raised £600 and participants enjoyed tea, coffee and cake at the finish. Thanks and well done to all who contributed, took part and supported. Happy New Year!!
